I thought I should share my views, or at least write them down in diary form, on working anything from 40-80 hours a week and trying to train like a full time althlete - It's a balancing act of epic propotions

End of season struggle

Well as work starts to pick up at the ski shops and on the website the Triathlon season/running season as it is now is nearly over and to be honest, I think my body is telling me enough is enough. So far in the last week or so I have had to have 2 sessions with Rachel the Chiropractuer and 2 sessions with Paul the Masseur as well as getting my second cold of the last month!!
All started with a strained ligament after racing the lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon on the 11th September (ran a 1h29) which had followed on from the most gruelling race of the season, the Helvellyn Triathlon (25th place) the week before. 11 days later and the foot is still sore but none of this will be helped from having to recover between races whilst working in the warehouse every day lugging around all of the new skis and snowboards that have been arriving. I think the whole combination of workload and racing has taken it's tole on me now and next year I think i will have to plan to stop racing in early september to allow work to not get so stressful.
Adding to the already hectic pace of things at the moment it appears to be wedding season with Binks and Nic getting married last saturday and the party turned in to an almighty apres ski type party until 4am, and now I have Gaz and Bex's wedding this saturday which is only going to end up one way. Mmm, decisions, decisions. Stop drinking all together and have no mates left as they all revolve around booze or carry on getting through it and add to the stress of work training and social life???
Pic from the top of Helvellyn run course! no idea who the guys in the pic are though
